This one is going to be short.
I guess I am basically an optimist, and imagine things will work out like I want. So when I decide to get rid of 98% of my belongings, focusing more on the “get rid of” than trying to make major cash, I just assume it will be simple and work out.
Getting rid of all of your possessions is not even close to the same thing as simply packing them up. I mean, there is a certain amount of packing involved, but it’s mostly unpacking, repacking and throwing away things that you don’t understand why you kept in the first place. Mostly it’s that last thing.
On the positive note, the Ural’s brakes were fixed yesterday, which means I can now carry lots more stuff to various places to dump off, and with some luck I really will be able to host a rummage sale this weekend.
Hopefully my next post will be more fun.

You can always find a consignment shop for the stuff you know has value but you can’t sell on your own. You may not get cash right away, but it’s a better option than just donating everything you don’t want to keep. Also, I got the tents and games! Thanks! (I haven’t yet measured for or made the poles yet, though)
I imagine you’ve got some cool stuff you’ll hate to see go. Best of luck selling! This made me look around my place and realize I’ve payed a couple grand for stuff I don’t need:(
I do have a lot of stuff I would rather keep, but for the most part I don’t mind. The things I don’t want to get rid of I am planning to store, but it isn’t much. In fact, some things moved from the ‘store’ to the ‘get rid of’ pile. I just don’t feel like keeping much.
